International School Safety Convention 2010
Creating Safer Schools for a Safer World
April 22-23, 2010, with special VIP film screenings on April 21 and April 22
Get the information, resources, and new tools you need to plan, design, build, and manage safe schools. We are pleased to announce that we will host the International School Safety Convention, April 22-23, 2010, at the Denver campus of Johnson & Wales University, College of Business.
This event is for leaders building new schools or dramatically improving existing ones.
For the first time ever, world-famous presenters Michael Dorn and Randall Atlas have packaged a highly interactive, results-oriented leadership summit on
Creating Safer Schools for a Safer World. Two of the most engaging speakers in the industry, Dorn and Atlas will open your eyes to school construction nightmares that have hurt owners and their communities. They will then lead you through a clear step-by-step process for avoiding these mistakes and thinking through solutions that promote safety, security, emergency management, and a nurturing school climate.
You will also receive guidance from a team of experts including Tod Schneider, Dave Cullen, Sara Strizzi, Dick Caster, Dennis McCarthy, and school architects from Perkins+Will and Weidlinger Associates. Visit our section on
Leadership Events for more about these speakers and the agenda, or scroll to the bottom of this page and request an invitation right away.
As a participant in this event, you will also be a contributor to a final report entitled,
100 New Ideas for Creating Safer Schools for a Safer World. Throughout the convention, we will be using smart board technology to gather and discuss ideas from all participants as well as our presenters. These brainstorming sessions will be edited into a compendium of ideas edited by Alan Ford, whose book,
Designing the Sustainable School, has become a must-have idea book for school architects everywhere.
SchoolSAFE Communications is the founding sponsor of the event, generously covering admission for all attendees. In other words, you are truly a guest and delegate here. In addition, our media sponsor is
School Planning & Management Magazine, and our motion picture sponsor is the
Edge Foundation. Visit our section on
Sponsors to find out how these supporters are changing the way we think about school safety and tomorrow's youth.
Special VIP Film Screenings of We Are The People We've Been Waiting For
As part of the event, we will also have 2 special screenings of
We Are The People We've Been Waiting For, a new feature documentary about how we can better connect with all students to create a better school climate and prepare our youth for a challenging world.
Oscar winner David Puttnam served as Executive Producer of this film, which was shot around the world. Surprise guests from the movie will lead the audience discussion following each screening. This will be a lively media event that will have you thinking globally, and building locally.
The screenings will be held in the Jared Polis Auditorium the evenings of Wednesday, April 21, and Thursday, April 22.
